socks....so now, Lulynn has offered to teach us!!!

C.S. Lewis Fingerless Gloves

These gloves are perfect for grabbing a cup of java and holding a great book! My favorite author is C.S. Lewis...thus the name was created for these little gems! Here is the pattern:

#11 dpns

1 skein Aracania Coliumo Solid Color 5

Cast on 21 stitches. Then put 7 stitches on 3 dpns. Connect in the round.

Cuff Pattern: k2, p1 for 3 inches

Hand Pattern: stockinette stitch for 3 more inches (the gloves will measure 6 inches in length at this point) Next round k2, put the next 2 stitches on stitch holder, CO 2 stitches, knit the last stitch. (this is the thumb hole)

Continue in the stockinette stitch for 3 more inches until gloves measure 9 inches total.

Bind off loosely.

Thumb: Pick up 2-3 stitches around the thumb hole on each of the 2 dpns. Slide stitches from stitch holder to third dpn. Continue in stockinette for about an inch. Bind off.

Weave in yarn...ta da!!!

#7 DPNs

1 skein Knit Col

Cast on 48 loosely.

pattern stitch... 2 x 2 rib for 6 inches.

Next round, cast off 6 stitches and knit the rest of round. Cast on 2 stitches over the 6 bound off stitches ( this is your thumb hole) . Continue working the 2 x 2 rib for 3 inches. Bind off loosely.

Tuesdays' Beginning Classes: If you have never picked up a needle before, this class is for you!

Learning the basics: casting on, knit, purl, and binding off will give you the ability to knit scarves, blankets, and wraps.

Classes beginning Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Morning 10 a.m. - 12 noon

Evening 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

**$45 for 4 lessons

You will need worsted weight wool and size 8 or size 9 needles (10inch, metal, plastic or bamboo). A yarn suggestion from the master knitting teachers: Lion Brand, Vanna's Choice (color of your choice!) The supplies can be purchased @ Michael's.
